Job Description
1. POSITION VACANT: Communications Manager, The Right to Sight (VISION 2020 INDIA), New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
The Right to Sight India (VISION 2020 INDIA) was established in 2004 as a national platform dedicated to eliminating avoidable blindness across India. Operating as a not-for-profit organization, it serves as a pivotal contributor to the global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to reduce preventable visual impairments.
This initiative represents a collaborative partnership among INGOs, NGOs, and Dr. RP Centre, AIIMS, working collectively to enhance eye care programs, exchange knowledge, and develop innovative solutions to deliver high-quality, comprehensive, and equitable eye care. VISION 2020 India's core mission is to intensify and accelerate efforts to prevent blindness by fostering a supportive policy environment and strengthening the capacities of eye care institutions to achieve the goal of eliminating avoidable blindness.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Communications Manager (CM) will be responsible for the following;
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Web Communications
(1) Manage and update the VISION 2020 INDIA website with relevant content and collaborate with designers for creatives;
(2) Write content for the website which supports the need for fundraising-online & offline, policy engagement, programme and ensure the site is regularly updated;
(3) Work closely with organizational website developer and ensure that the website for VISION 2020 INDIA is compelling, vibrating and engaging;
(4) Work closely with the annual conference website vendors and ensure that such microsite is vibrant and engaging the stakeholders;
(5) Update content on the website and other channels.
(B) Social Media
(1) Engage in developing content for social media for engaging the supporters and use it as a tool for supporting policy engagement initiatives;
(2) Develop regular content, post them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and any other identified social media platforms, and manage such handles effectively;
(3) Develop content for digital fund-raise campaigns, blogs etc. promptly;
(4) Create a Members Speak initiative where we highlight one feature story of a member institute per month/quarter on the website and social media pages.
(C) Content Development and Publications
(1) Develop and implement VISION 2020 INDIA communications and policy engagement materials comprising of website, newsletters, audio/visual communications, promotional materials, fliers, brochures etc. for its various stakeholders including member organizations, government and the Board of Management;
(2) Prepare quarterly and annual reports to be submitted to the Board, member institutions and to meet statutory requirements. Also, have language expertise to develop and edit content for reports, Annual Reports and other communications material;
(3) Coordinate with external agencies, including graphic designers, photographers, production companies, and print specialists;
(4) Be part of Program enhancement group and work as per the discussions in the group;
(5) Create impactful content for articles, web blogs and other releases to support fund-raising activities;
(6) Help create content for audio-visuals for Goodwill Ambassador;
(7) VISION 2020 INDIA member activity documentation and effectively communicate success stories of VISION 2020 INDIA to the stakeholders;
(8) Respond to queries as sent by visitors on our website and to comments that are posted on various social media platforms in consultation with CEO;
(9) Conceptualize effective collaterals to communicate with diverse stakeholders;
(10) Develop an annual social media post calendar in line with the IAPB health calendar;
(11) Create a repository of knowledge content sourced through members for sharing online through posts and reels;
(12) Arrange all media contacts, prepare presentations (PPT), speeches, press releases, electronic direct mailers, media and communications collateral and advertisements;
(13) Take lead in vendor/consultant identification, seeking quotations for various communications work and relationship management for efficient communication solutions.
(D) Campaigns and Events
(1) Strengthen relationships with various member organizations and take lead in developing fundraising materials and the brand building strategy to strengthen the VISION 2020 INDIA visibility;
(2) Conceptualize and ideate on effective campaigns to improve VISION 2020 INDIA’s visibility;
(3) Promote World Sight Day, World Glaucoma Week, Eye Donation Fortnight etc. with member coordination. Coordinate with member institutions and compile reports of these events;
(4) Execute effective campaigns on varied online/offline platforms for communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders including donors, beneficiaries, government etc.;
(5) Support Program Manager and Finance & Administrative officer for effective implementation of VISION 2020 INDIA programs / events;
(6) Provide continuous communication support to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Committee and the Board of Management and any other responsibilities assigned by CEO.
Note: The above description contains the main outline of the postholder duties. However, in a voluntary organization such as VISION 2020 INDIA with a relatively small staff, it is inevitable that responsibilities and tasks may vary from time to time. All staff are therefore expected to respond with a flexible approach when tasks arise, which are not specifically covered in this job description. Should an additional responsibility or task become a regular part of an employee’s job, the job description will be amended.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification
Post-graduate in Communication, Journalism or Social Sciences
Experience
Minimum five years of relevant experience in the NGO sector, of which at least two years in a similar role preferably in eye care sector.
Skills and Competencies
(1) Exceptional writing skills with compelling sample blogs, OpEds, reports and short essays;
(2) Background in public health;
(3) A good understanding of eye health and its positioning within the health and development sector would be an added advantage;
(4) Clear, effective and persuasive communicator, both written and oral;
(5) Outstanding computer skills with experience in all Microsoft Office programs;
(6) Self-motivated, strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines;
(7) Ability to work independently and with others;
(8) Should be willing to travel at short notice.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The annual CTC of the position is INR 8 lacs per annum including employee benefits worth of Rs.40,000 such as life insurance, medical insurance, accidental insurance and annual health check-up.
