Job Description

1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant, International Not-for-Profit Organization (INPO), Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand & Karnataka

 

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.
 

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Consultant will play a key role in coordinating with state government and identified COE and other stakeholders, for effective rollout of concerned maternal health interventions.The Consultant will support the Born Healthy project based on demonstrating a successful model of evidence-based Antenatal Care (ANC) by designing, conducting and monitoring activities that provide quality and timely programmatic support to health providers, health facilities and other relevant stakeholders. The position will report to the State Program Officer (SPO) in her/his respective state. S/he shall be responsible for the following:
 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

 

(1) Work under the guidance of the State Program Officer – Born Healthy to support the operationalization of the State Centre of Excellence (COE) in collaboration with government stakeholders;

(2) Provide technical support to COE and NHM in planning areas for capacity building, research, dissemination of best practices and policy recommendations for strengthening maternal health programs in the state;

(3) Coordinate with state Maternal Health department, COE and other identified stakeholders to implement the agreed upon interventions through CoE;

(4) Facilitate meetings with CoE and state MH division to track the progress on the identified technical areas;

(5) Document the initiatives and develop report;

(6) Support advocacy efforts for integrating COE initiatives into state health policies and NHM program implementation plans;

(7) Assists Senior Program Officer to achieve project deliverables and timelines as per desired quality and specifications;

(8) Provide technical and programmatic support and guidance to district-level stakeholders to implement COE initiatives after initial hand holding from CoE;

(9) Support testing, implementation, and documentation of technology solutions as part of the COE initiative;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicant must have BSc Nursing/Degree in one of AYUSH fields /BDS /BPT with Post Graduate Degree /Diploma in Public Health or Health Management will be preferred;

(2) Minimum 3-4 years of experience of working with public health programs, especially in Reproductive and Child Health and managing program implementation is desirable. Specific experience in large programs related to quality of care/antenatal care/maternal & newborn health will be preferred;

(3) Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National Rural Health Mission would be advantageous;

(4) Consultant should have his/her own laptop;

 

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Experience and demonstrated ability in working with government’s Maternal and Child Health programs, counterparts and systems;

(2) Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi;

(3) Technically proficient with skills required for the assigned task;

(4) Proficiency in writing technical documents such as training materials and reports;

(5) Contextual understanding of government health system would be preferred;

(6) Ability to work within an international program team and communicate regularly with a variety of team members;

(7) Ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies, stakeholders and other organizations;

(8) Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines;

(9) Ability to multi task and work in a multi-cultural team;

(10) Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks;

(11) Microsoft Office computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;

(12) Ability to travel 20–30% of his/her time;

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: The monthly consultancy fee budgeted for the position is INR 65,000/-.

9. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

 

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of one months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
