Job Description
1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant, International Not-for-Profit Organization, New Delhi.
2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The consultant Sr. Public Health Advisor based in New Delhi for its RISE project to provide strategic and technical leadership for engaging private sector health providers to strengthen disease surveillance, improve reporting through IDSP/IHIP and enhance data quality. The Advisor will work closely with government partners and Jhpiego to ensure high-quality implementation and timely reporting of its project. S/he will be responsible for the following work;
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Strategic Private Sector Engagement:
(a) Design and lead a state-level strategy for engaging private hospitals, laboratories, and diagnostic providers in in routine surveillance system i.e., IDSP/IHIP;
(b) Support development of engagement frameworks, SOPs, and communication tools tailored for private providers;
(c) Facilitate structured dialogue between health authorities and private sector associations (e.g., IMA, IAP, private lab networks);
(2) IHIP Integration & Reporting Systems Strengthening:
(a) Provide technical guidance to improve onboarding, usage, and compliance of private providers on the IHIP platform;
(b) Support orientation and capacity-building sessions for private sector stakeholders on reporting standards, and timelines;
(3) Data Quality & Supportive Supervision Oversight:
(a) Visit States to support on improving engagements with private healthcare providers for surveillance;
(b) Guide the design and implementation data quality improvement mechanisms for private sector reporting;
(c) Set up indicators to monitor private sector engagement and reporting performance;
(d) Prepare periodic reports, briefs, and presentations for state and national stakeholders;
(4) Advisory & Program Coordination:
(a) Provide evidence-based recommendations to state leadership on strengthening public–private collaboration for surveillance;
(b) Support alignment of private sector engagement activities with national guidelines (IDSP, NCDC, IHIP);
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications and Experience:
(1) Applicants must have Postgraduate degree in Medicine, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Systems, or related field; MBBS and MD with public health experience preferred;
(2) Minimum 20-25 years of experience in public health programs, private sector engagement, disease surveillance, or health systems strengthening;
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Demonstrated experience working with private health sector stakeholders;
(2) Familiarity with public health programs in India, especially disease surveillance, is preferred;
(3) Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with diverse stakeholders;
(4) Excellent coordination and organizational skills with strong attention to detail;
(5) Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage multiple stakeholders;
(6) Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision;
(7) Demonstrated teamwork, diplomacy, and relationship-building skills;
(8) Ability and willingness to travel for workshops and coordination activities;
5. CONSULTANCY FEE: Consultancy fee budgeted for the position is INR 10,08,950/-(Consultancy fee + Travel).

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:
The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of four months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
