3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Partnerships and Development Lead is a role for a talented and ambitious climate policy and development professional to join Climate Group’s dynamic team in New Delhi. Climate Group thrives on the strength of its networks and partnerships nurtured for years with corporates, government, philanthropic, and civil society organisations. This role will expand collaboration and partnership with these stakeholders to achieve Climate Group’s strategic objectives in India.
Corporate membership income and philanthropic funding is crucial to Climate Group's climate programs and allied initiatives in India. The incumbent will enable the organization to build on these achievements by investing in its strongest income streams, while also exploring alternative avenues including domestic philanthropy and other revenue models led through competitive bidding. The ideal candidate will bring experience of generating income from these sources, and a good understanding of their decision-making processes.
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) India, s/he will manage key internal relationships at multiple levels within the organisation, both in the region and in Climate Group’s London office. Working closely and proactively with these stakeholders, the post holder is expected to support research and analyse opportunities, develop/ monitor partner and donor engagement plans, and manage ideation and development processes through from the cultivation stage to finalising the project.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(A) Development and Fundraising
(1) Lead the development and implementation of a regional strategy focused on diversifying income streams and building valuable partnerships that align with funding strategies and programmatic priorities;
(2) Work closely with the Development and Programme teams to meet deadlines for cultivation and proposals, ensuring successful funding opportunities for India-based programs;
(3) Partner with the Development team to guide and assist programme managers and non-development colleagues in bid development, funder reporting, and relationship stewardship;
(4) Provide vital research support to the global Development team, with a focus on identifying prospective funders in India and South Asia.
(B) Partnerships
(1) Forge new, strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders across business, government, civil society, and think tanks, tapping into the vast network of climate leaders and the broader ecosystem;
(2) Seek out valuable partnership opportunities beyond funding and connect them to the relevant teams within Climate Group. This includes collaborating with national and state agencies, civil society organizations, and technical experts to advance ongoing and future programs;
(3) Develop engaging content for initial outreach to potential partners, including persuasive written communications, impactful PowerPoint presentations, and other materials that drive interest and action;
(4) Contribute to the planning and growth of new partnerships and initiatives for Climate Group, including major programs and campaigns that align with global impact goals and
resource plans.
(C) Research and Intelligence
(1) Prospect research at both a company and individual level, with findings feeding into shaping propositions and outreach strategies for various teams across Climate Group;
(2) Lead on initial outreach to new potential partners, tracking and sharing intelligence gathered using CRM, and using this to suggest practical next steps to progress C-Suite level relationship development;
(3) Support the development of targeted client value propositions, including preparation for client meetings;
(4) Work closely with the Global Research, Innovation and Impact Team (GRIIT) to explore key topics and themes of interest that could form the basis for future Climate Group programmatic work.
(5) Adopt Climate Group best practices for funder engagement, feeding back regularly to program teams;
(6) Propose and engage in a variety of events and activities thoughtfully representing Climate Group and enabling it to deepen it’s networks.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
Applicants must possess suitable qualifications in business management, marketing or related areas, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
(1) Proven experience in fundraising, business development or partnerships, with a track record of securing funding from corporates, philanthropic organisations, or public sector donors;
(2) Strong understanding of the climate or sustainability landscape in India/ South Asia, including the roles of government, private sector, civil society, and philanthropic actors;
(3) Experience in engaging with senior stakeholders, ideally including corporates, funders, and policymakers, with confidence in influencing and relationship-building at C-suite or
equivalent level;
(4) Demonstrated experience in developing partnerships, proactive new business development outreach, and leading consultative conversations with external stakeholders;
(5) Relevant experience working on climate policy or related issues in India/ South Asia.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Demonstrated experience in non-profit environments with strong professional presentation and writing skills;
(2) Excellent communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling proposals, presentations, and partner communications tailored to different audiences;
(3) Strategic thinking and planning skills, with experience in developing and implementing partnership or fundraising strategies aligned to wider organisational goals;
(4) Excellent written and verbal communication skills - fluent written and spoken English;
(5) Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and assess funding or partnership opportunities and translate insight into action;
(6) Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams, departments, and regions, and to manage multiple projects or workstreams effectively.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross compensation budgeted for the position ranges from INR 26 to 33 lacs per annum, based on experience. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

7. MODE OF WORKING: Flexible and hybrid (Three days from the office and two days from home). Domestic and international travel may be required.

This is a full time 24-month position initially, with the possibility of renewal.
