Translation of Training and Program Materials into Telugu and Marathi

 

About Trickle Up

Trickle Up India Foundation (TUIF) is a nationally registered non-profit organization dedicated to enabling women and families living in extreme poverty to build sustainable livelihoods and lead positive change within their communities. Established in 2013 as the India affiliate of Trickle Up, a global pioneer of the Graduation Approach, TUIF works to promote economic resilience, social inclusion, and dignity among the poorest and most excluded populations. 

 

TUIF with the support from BRAC International will establish and manage three to four immersion sites, design and roll out structured capacity-building initiatives, produce high-quality, context-specific knowledge resources, and coordinate national and international exposure visits.

 

Objective

The objective of this empanelment is to identify and empanel experienced language consultants/ interpreters who can provide interpretation support between local languages from Telugu and Marathi to English during delegation visits to immersion sites.

 

Scope of Work

The empanelled consultant/ interpreter will be responsible for:

 

A. Interpretation Support

 

a. Provide real-time verbal interpretation between:

  • Telugu and English
  • Marathi and English


b. Facilitate communication during:

  • Community interactions
  • Field visits
  • Exposure visits
  • Meetings and workshops
  • Training sessions and presentations


B. Delegation Support

  • Support visiting delegates in understanding local discussions, community narratives, and program interventions.
  • Assist local stakeholders/ community members in communicating effectively with delegates.


C. Coordination

  • Coordinate with the organizing team regarding visit schedules and agenda.
  • Be available during the entire duration of engagement at the immersion site.


D. Documentation Support (if required)

  • Provide basic translation support for short field notes, presentations, or communication material during visits.


Deliverables

 

The consultant/ interpreter shall provide:

  • Accurate and professional interpretation support during assigned visits/ events
  • Timely availability as per agreed schedule
  • Clear and contextually appropriate communication support


Duration of Empanelment

  • The empanelment shall remain valid for a period of one (1) year, extendable based on performance and organizational requirements.
  • Empanelment does not guarantee a minimum number of assignments.


Eligibility Criteria

Interested consultants/ interpreters should meet the following criteria:

 

Proficiency in:

  • Telugu and English, and/or
  • Marathi and English
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in interpretation/ translation assignments.
  • Prior experience in supporting development sector programs, exposure visits, trainings, or workshops preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with community members, government officials, and international/ national delegates.


Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in:

  • Livelihoods and rural development programs
  • DAY-NRLM and community institution strengthening programs
  • Exposure/immersion visits
  • Development sector workshops and trainings
  • Community-based programs and field facilitation


Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • Relevant interpretation experience
  • Language proficiency
  • Understanding of development sector terminology
  • Availability and flexibility for travel
  • Proposed daily professional fee


Payment Terms

  • Payment will be made on a per day engagement basis as per the agreed professional fee/ rate.
  • The number of engagement days will be based on the duration of delegation visits and assignment requirements.
  • Travel, accommodation, and local conveyance (if applicable) will be provided/ reimbursed as per organizational norms.

Confidentiality

  • The consultant/ interpreter shall maintain confidentiality of all information, discussions, and documents shared during the assignment and shall not disclose the same without prior approval from the organization.
