Background:
Students in government schools in rural areas often exhibit a lack of interest in science-based subjects, largely due to limited access to quality educational resources. Many schools in the remote blocks lack well-equipped science laboratories, interactive learning tools, and exposure to practical applications of scientific concepts. This resource gap hinders experiential learning, making science appear abstract and difficult to grasp. Additionally, the absence of trained teachers and engaging teaching methods further contributes to students’ disinterest. As a result, science is often perceived as a challenging and difficult subject, discouraging students from pursuing it in higher education. Addressing these gaps through innovative tools like mobile science vans can play a crucial role in encouragingcuriosity and promoting a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
Scope of Work and Deliverables
We intend to procure a fully customized and fabricated vehicle preferably CNG to serve as a Mobile Science Van for outreach in rural areas. The van will function as a mobile learning unit, equipped with digital infrastructure and content to promote science and technology education among students from Classes 6 to 12, in alignment with the NCERT/SCERT curriculum. The content should be based on 3D models and simulations for better conceptual understanding. Open-source or one-time subscription-based content providers will be preferred.
The display screen for preloaded content should be Interactive Flat Panel / Smart Board / Smart Screen of preferred size 55inch or 65 inch. The mobile van should also facilitate basic computer literacy and offer immersive learning experiences through 6 laptops (Dell or HP) and 15 tablets (Samsung, MI, or Lenovo).
Preference will be given to proposals offering digital content through open-source platforms or one-time subscription models to ensure sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
