TENDER NOTICE 

1.  Background

PWSS (Piped Water Supply Scheme) is a key intervention aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

In India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, PWSS plays a central role in achieving universal access to safe and adequate drinking water, especially in rural and semi-urban areas under initiatives like Jal Jeevan Mission.

Introduction of PWSS in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh faces significant challenges related to groundwater depletion, water quality (fluoride, arsenic contamination), and unequal access to safe drinking water. PWSS has been introduced as a structured approach to:

• Provide household tap connections (FHTCs)
• Reduce dependence on handpumps and unsafe sources
• Ensure equitable and reliable water supply systems
• Promote community-managed and sustainable water services
  
  

The state government, through Jal Jeevan Mission and other programs, is scaling PWSS across districts with a focus on source sustainability, infrastructure development, and community participation (VWSCs).

Village (Habitation) Profile & Objective

The proposed hamlet Rapra is a part of Tanda gram Panchayat of Bhitaura Block. Tanada GP has been covered with world bank supported NNP Scheme. The whole GP is covered under NNP water supply scheme. Unfortunately, this hamlet is still untouched by water supply scheme. The hamlet currently lacks an organized piped water supply system. Households depend on handpumps/seasonal water sources, which are often insufficient in quantity and inconsistent in quality. Women and children spend considerable time fetching water, affecting health, hygiene, and livelihoods.To ensure safe, reliable, and adequate drinking water to all residents, a new Pipe Water Supply Scheme (PWSS) is proposed for 19 households.

• To provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) to all 19 households.
• To ensure 24×7 availability of safe and potable drinking water as per JJM service standards.
• To reduce dependency on unsafe water sources and enhance overall community health.
• To promote equity, sanitation, and hygiene within the community.
