Job Description

1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant - Care Navigator, International Not-for-Profit Organization (INPO), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

 

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Consultant Care Navigator will be responsible for supporting the implementation of women’s cancer care activities at the district level, with a focus on awareness generation, screening, referral, and follow up of suspected and confirmed cases. The navigator will act as a critical link between Jhpiego, public health facilities, identified private sector partners and MPMMCC, ensuring seamless coordination across the cancer care continuum.

 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

 

(1) Provide logistical and administrative support for organizing meetings, trainings, community outreach, and other project-related events;

(2) Maintain inventory of IEC materials, job aids, registers, and screening-related supplies at facility level;

(3) Coordinate the collection of cervical cancer screening samples from both public and private sector facilities and ensure safe and timely transportation of collected samples to MPMMCC;

(4) Collect screening and diagnostic reports from MPMMCC and ensure their dissemination to respective facilities;

(5) Assist in mobilizing eligible women from both public and private sectors to MPMMCC for screening and further care;

(6) Support frontline health workers (ASHAs, ANMs, CHOs) in community mobilization and awareness generation on common cancers;

(7) Facilitate screening uptake at selected public health facilities by strengthening coordination among FLWs and facility staff;

(8) Track screen-positive clients and ensure timely referral to higher centers, including MPMMCC;

(9) Actively support patient navigation by coordinating appointments, arranging transportation (if needed), and following up on treatment adherence and continuity of care;

(10) Work closely with staff of respective facilities to maintain updated databases of screened, diagnosed, and treated clients;

(11) Ensure regular data entry and verification on the NCD portal and other project-specific reporting platforms;

(12) Conduct regular field visits to assigned health facilities to provide handholding support and ensure accurate recordkeeping;

(13) Compile and submit monthly activity and progress reports; share key findings with Jhpiego team and local health officials;

(14) Liaise regularly with stakeholders at public health facilities, private hospitals, and MPMMCC to ensure smooth coordination of services;

(15) Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to achieve project goals effectively;


4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicant must have 12th pass, active, smartphone user, with zero addiction;

(2) At least 0-1 years of experience of working with public health programs preferred;

 

Skills and Competencies:
(1) Excellent verbal communications skills;
(2) Acceptable to local community, system and FLWs;

(3) Active Smartphone user;
(4) Have own bike and willingness to travel locally for program activities;

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: The monthly consultancy fee budgeted for the position is INR 22,500/- and overall CTC for 6 months is INR 135,000/-.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

 

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of six months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
