Job Description
1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant - Care Navigator, International Not-for-Profit Organization (INPO), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant - Care Navigator will be responsible for guiding patients through the cervical cancer screening and treatment pathway. This role involves coordinating between patients, healthcare providers, and facilities to ensure timely follow-up, reduce drop-outs, and provide necessary counselling and support to women throughout the care continuum. S/he will be responsible for the following tasks:
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Serve as the primary point of contact for women identified through the screening program, providing guidance, counselling and information on screening results, diagnostic procedures, and treatment options;
(2) Coordinate and schedule follow-up appointments and facilitate seamless navigation between screening sites and referral centres such as MPMMCC;
(3) Maintain regular follow-up with patients to ensure adherence to clinical recommendations and address barriers to care (e.g., transportation, financial, or social issues);
(4) Collaborate with FLWs and community stakeholders for patient tracking, referral linkages, and support community engagement activities such as sensitization meetings or patient support groups;
(5) Document and track patient progress, collect feedback on patient experience and perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to support project objectives;
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications and Experience:
(1) Applicant must have Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field;
(2) At least 2–3 years of experience in patient navigation, counselling, or community health programs, preferably in oncology or women’s health;
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Experience working with community-level health workers and government health facilities;
(2) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey sensitive health information compassionately to patients and their families;
(3) Ability to provide emotional support and practical guidance to patients, especially those in distress;
(4) Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple patient cases while maintaining accurate and detailed records;
(5) Proactive problem-solving approach to identify and address barriers to care (e.g., transportation, social, or financial challenges), supported by strong critical thinking skills;
(6) Fluency in local languages and ability to work effectively with diverse populations while respecting local customs and cultural sensitivities;
5. CONSULTANCY FEE: The monthly consultancy fee budgeted for the position is INR 28,000/- and overall CTC for 3 months is INR 84,000/-.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:
The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of three months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
