Job Description
1. POSITION VACANT: Consultant - Programs, The Right to Sight (VISION 2020 INDIA), New Delhi
2. ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
The Right to Sight India (VISION 2020 INDIA) was established in 2004 as a national platform dedicated to eliminating avoidable blindness across India. Operating as a not-for-profit organization, it serves as a pivotal contributor to the global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to reduce preventable visual impairments.
This initiative represents a collaborative partnership among INGOs, NGOs, and Dr. RP Centre, AIIMS, working collectively to enhance eye care programs, exchange knowledge, and develop innovative solutions to deliver high-quality, comprehensive, and equitable eye care. VISION 2020 India's core mission is to intensify and accelerate efforts to prevent blindness by fostering a supportive policy environment and strengthening the capacities of eye care institutions to achieve the goal of eliminating avoidable blindness.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a mid-level position requiring a person with sound programme management experience with very good level of communication skills and emotional intelligence to effectively manage the programme.
Reporting to the Head Programs, the Consultant will support in the implementation of activities as per the strategic plan, closely coordinate with member eye care institutions, support in advocacy activities with MoHFW, support in increasing the membership, and develop & maintain excellent relationship with all stakeholders.
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Develop annual action plan based on five-years strategic plan along with budgets under the guidance of CEO, and independently implement it in close coordination with VISION 2020 INDIA member institutions, national/zonal/state coordinators, and other stakeholders;
(2) Plan and execute various capacity-building programmes focusing on member institutions, and other events;
(3) Develop and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders, especially the National Program for Control of Blindness &Visual Impairment, Ministry of Health (MoH), and member institutions of the Organisation;
(4) Develop policy engagement briefs, concept notes, reports, and documentation;
(5) Facilitate and liason with central and state government departments /agencies for seamless programme delivery through Zonal representatives;
(6) Play a pro-active role with all state eye health networks that are being created from time to time. This includes frequent coordination with state networks/core committees, participation in the core committee meetings (in-person and online), preparing minutes of such meetings, and follow-up on actions agreed and other relevant tasks needed to strengthen state network activities;
(7) Coordinate with different thematic focus groups set up internally, and implement its suggestions/ recommendations;
(8) Promote and support new and existing membership, closely coordinate with member institutions and ensure that their needs are addressed;
(9) Communicate and coordinate with member institutions for different annual awards;
(10) Contribute to increasing the number of member institutions to strengthen the Organisation and its mission;
(11) Collaborative and cooperative work with Program Manager, Communications Manager and Finance & Administrative Officer for effective implementation of programmes / fundraise, events etc;
(12) Donor reporting and necessary coordination;
(13) Provide continuous support to the Chief Executive Officer, and swiftly act upon any other responsibilities assigned by CEO;
(14) Should be able to work in a team environment;
(15) Outstation travel as and when required;
(16) Any other work as assigned by supervisor.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification
Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences/ Masters in Public Health, and/or related disciplines.
Experience
(1) Minimum five years of experience in NGO sector in programme management/ coordination;
(2) Prior experience in non-profit eye care sector or any other disability programmes is preferable.
Skills and Competencies
(1) Ability to independently manage events, build relationships with the government and other stakeholders, and develop programme tools;
(2) Very good computer skills;
(3) Very good communication skills in English (spoken and written) and Hindi (spoken);
(4) Assertive with good persuasion and public/ government relation skills;
(5) Self-development, initiative-taking;
(6) Able to think creatively in problem solving and to translate creative thinking into tangible outputs;
(7) Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
5. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The selected candidate will be paid an annual fixed amount INR 6 lacs.
Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
6. DURATION: Contractual. The position is initially for a period of year.
