Job Description
1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant - Tele and Data Entry Operator, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant Tele and Data Entry Operator will be based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha for Malaria Surveillance & Private-sector Activation for Resilient Response (M-SPARR) project. The position will contribute to providing programmatic support in the implementation of community-based surveillance. S/he will be responsible for the following work;
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Toll-Free Call Intake & Case Documentation:
(a) Receive and handle all incoming calls from Antimalaria Champions;
(b) Complete the structured reporting proforma for every call (village/hamlet, case count, symptoms, reporter details, etc.);
(c) Maintain complete and accurate call logs and caller records;
(2) IHIP Data Entry & Surveillance Reporting Compliance;
(a) Enter call data into the IHIP Community Reporting Portal promptly and accurately;
(b) Ensure adherence to defined reporting protocols and timelines;
(c) Maintain daily/weekly reporting records and data quality standards;
(3) Alert Generation & Escalation Management;
(a) Generate and forward automated/manual alerts to District and Block VBD teams;
(b) Immediately flag high-priority or unusual events to State/District VBD teams and the M-SPARR Program Coordinator;
(c) Track acknowledgement and initial response to alerts;
(4) Verification Follow-Up & Surveillance Loop Closure
(a) Coordinate with district and block officials to track field verification status;
(b) Follow up on pending alerts and document outcomes;
(c) Ensure surveillance cases are updated through closure/resolution;
(5) Surveillance Analytics, Compliance & Capacity Support;
(a) Compile periodic surveillance metrics (call volume, response time, positivity rate, etc.) for review meetings;
(b) Ensure compliance with data confidentiality and Government of Odisha data-security protocols;
(c) Participate in trainings, review meetings, and continuous improvement activities;
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications and Experience:
(1) Applicants must have Graduate in any discipline (preferably Science, Social Science, or Public Health related field);
(2) Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in tele-calling and/or data entry (preferably in health sector);
(3) Excellent working knowledge of Odia language (speaking & understanding) is mandatory. Working knowledge of Santali/Ho will be an advantage;
(4) Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Excel, Google Sheets, and web-based data entry portals;
(5) Prior experience with IHIP, IDSP, or any government health reporting portal will be an advantage;
(6) Good communication skills and ability to handle calls professionally;
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strong listening and accurate data recording skills;
(2) Ability to work under pressure and manage high call volumes during peak transmission seasons;
(3) Basic understanding of malaria symptoms and public health surveillance;
(4) Team player with strong coordination skills;
(5) Strong organizational and time-management skills;
5. CONSULTANCY FEE: The consultancy fee for two months INR ₹50,000.
6. LOCATION: Bhubaneswar, Odisha

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:
The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of two months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
