Job Description

1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant – (Zoonotic TB), International Not-for-Profit Organization, New Delhi or Remote.

 

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Consultant will be generating data-driven ecological risk models and economic burden estimates for Zoonotic Tuberculosis (ZTB). The work will focus on integrating animal, human, and environmental datasets to develop evidence-based estimates and risk prioritization outputs. The objective is to produce scientifically grounded estimates of economic burden of ZTB in India for policy-level decision-making. S/he will be responsible for the following work;

 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

 

(1) Data Mapping and Integration

The consultant shall compile and harmonize multi-sectoral datasets relevant to ZTB.

Key activities:

(a) Identification and compilation of datasets like Animal health, Human TB data, Environmental data, economic variables and various ecological data

(b) Development of a structured, analysis-ready dataset from the compiled data

(c) Validation of compiled datasets through literature triangulation

(d) Metadata document with assumptions and data sources

(e) Literature-based estimation of ZTB proportion within TB burden

Weekly progress updates and presentation (continuous)

(2) Ecological Risk Modelling for ZTB burden estimation

The consultant shall fit the datasets to appropriate ecological models to estimate ZTB transmission and burden.

Key activities:

(a) Selection of appropriate modelling approach for estimating risk for ZTB and its burden

(b) Risk scoring framework (Developing a risk scoring framework to align the data to fit appropriate ecological model)

(c) Fitting the data to generate an ecological model to estimate the risk ZTB

(d) Statistical adjustment of data for underreporting and surveillance gaps

(e) Sensitivity analysis to assess the certainty of estimates

Weekly progress updates and presentation (continuous);

(3). Economic Burden Estimation

The consultant shall estimate the economic burden of ZTB using structured frameworks.

Key activities:

(a) Development of a cost-of-illness framework including:

•    Direct costs (diagnosis, treatment, livestock losses).

•    Indirect costs (productivity loss, livelihood impact).

(b) Documentation of all assumptions and uncertainty ranges.

(c) Economic burden estimation tool.

(d) Range-based ZTB burden estimates.


(4). Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting

The intern will ensure structured documentation and reporting.

Key activities:

(a) Weekly progress updates and presentation

(b) Documentation of methods, assumptions, and limitations

(c) Preparation of final technical report and presentation

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicants must advanced degree Background in Economics / Public Health;
Basic Disease Modelling skills (R language, Disease Models, Data cleaning & Model fitting

etc...)

(2) Working knowledge of statistics and data analysis;

Skills and Competencies:

(1) GIS skills preferred;

(2) Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a multicultural;

(3) Ability to produce documents and coordinate activities independently;

(4) Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines;

(5) Excellent organizational skills required;

(6) Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with diverse stakeholders;
(7) Demonstrated analytical skills for data collection and reporting;

 

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: The consultancy fee INR 90,000/- deliverables based) The Consultant CTC for 2 months INR 2,25,900/-(consultancy +M&IE +Stay + travel).

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

 

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of two months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
