Job Description

Please note: These are residential roles; therefore, candidates with a strong interest in working with vulnerable children in residential care settings will be preferred. 

Additionally, these positions are for PAN India Locations, so applicants must be willing to be placed at any of our program locations.

SOS Children’s Villages of India are an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization working for the holistic development of parentless children as well as women and children from vulnerable families. For over 60 years, we have reached over 65000  children through our 32 SOS Children’s Villages and 28 community projects in India positively impacting over 83000 lives. We continue to provide children without parental care or at the risk of losing it, a value chain of quality care services that goes beyond childcare alone, to ensure comprehensive child development as well as ways to strengthen communities and families as a preventive measure in the fight against abandonment and social neglect.

Key Responsibilities (FLC): 

1. To Support the SOS Mother (in-charge of children’s homes) in the holistic development of children 

~Support SOS Mothers in health care of children 

~Support SOS Mothers in behavioral development of children 

~Support SOS Mothers in children’s career planning from adolescent age

~Support SOS Mothers in organizing resources as and when needed for children 

~Support SOS Mothers on arrival of new children in the village 

~Individual counselling to children and purposeful interactions on regular basis 

~Support SOS Mother in organizing uniforms, books, stationery for children for education 

~Lead Child Development Planning with children and SOS Mothers 

2. To support the SOS Mother in development of her family 

3. Support SOS Mothers in managing their homes 

4. Support services to mothers in proper utilization of family accounts 

5. Promote SOS Family interactions with immediate neighborhood 

6. Support in creating environment supporting education in families 

7. To support the Children’s Village community 

~Organize leisure and developmental activities for children on individual, group and community basis. 

~Organize community activities like evening prayer and festivals 

~Contribute to ensuring safety and security of everyone in the community 

8. Help in bringing children home 

~Support the child admission process by collecting information about the child’s background and present situation by home studies. 

~Support to the Village Director in liaison with Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on admission and reporting on children. 

~Promote children and SOS Mothers in fostering relationships with biological roots, to the extent that it is in best interest of the child. 

~Support in settling of young people and continuing relationships 

~Support in locating employment and liaison with employers 

Candidate Profile: 

Educational Qualifications & Experience: 

~Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field. 

~Familiarity with government child protection systems and youth welfare schemes.  

~Basic knowledge of computer applications, MIS, and report writing. 

~Master's degree / Diploma in a field with relevance to the position. 

 

Child & Youth Safeguarding Commitment: 

The incumbent must commit to the organization's Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy and ensure its implementation in all aspects and activities.
