Architectural Engineering Consultant

1. POSITIONS VACANT:  Architectural Engineering Consultant, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Remote, Meghalaya.

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Architectural Engineering Consultant will be responsible for assessing the proposed site/building, developing the functional and operational concept, preparing integrated architectural/interior and engineering designs, developing ICT /CCTV /digital assessment infrastructure, preparing equipment and furniture plans, detailed BOQ and cost estimates, DPR ready technical documentation. S/he will be responsible for the following work;

Key Job Responsibilities: 

(1) Site Assessment & Functional Planning;
(a) Detailed site/building assessment, including constraints, opportunities and infrastructure requirements;

(b) Functional and operational concept for the NCCC-CoE;
(c) Functional zoning and Space Programme covering competency assessment, nursing skills/ simulation, OSCE, digital assessment and support areas;

(2) Architectural, Interior & Design;

(a) Preliminary and detailed architectural/interior layouts with integrated furniture and equipment planning;
(b) Superimposed layouts integrating Architecture, Electrical, HVAC, ICT/CCTV, Fire & Safety and other requirements;

(c) Climate-resilient solutions addressing Meghalaya’s rainfall, humidity, seepage, moisture control, HVAC/dehumidification and protection of sensitive equipment;

(3) Nursing Competency, Simulation & OSCE Infrastructure;

(a) Design of nursing skills, simulation and OSCE infrastructure covering like adult, maternal/ newborn, paediatric, emergency, critical care, medication, IPC and other competency areas, as decided by Client technical team;

(b) Equipment and furniture recommendation and specifications;

(4) ICT, Digital Assessment, CCTV & Engineering Systems;

(a) Integrated design for ICT/networking, digital assessment, AV, CCTV/security, digital learning and remote-proctoring readiness;

(b) Electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, accessibility and environmental-control requirements;

(c) CCTV camera-coverage and monitoring/control-room plan based on functional requirements;

(5) BOQ, Cost Estimate & DPR;

(a) Detailed item-wise and discipline-wise BOQ and cost estimate covering civil/interior, MEP, HVAC, ICT, CCTV, furniture, simulation/OSCE equipment and other required components;

(b) Cost segregation for major components, taxes and recurring/maintenance costs, where applicable;

(c) Comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR);

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Civil Engineering or related discipline, with relevant professional certifications preferred;
(2) Minimum 10+ years of relevant professional experience in architectural design, project delivery, infrastructure development, interiors/ fit-outs or institutional projects. Prior experience in the planning, design, development, or implementation of Nursing Competency Labs will be an added advantage;

(3) Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary design coordination, including Architecture, Civil, MEP, HVAC, Electrical and allied building systems;

(4) Proven experience in technical drawings, BOQ/cost estimation, specifications, tender documentation, material submittals and procurement coordination;

(5) Strong experience in site assessment, technical reviews, QA/QC, design coordination, risk management, value engineering and project handover;

(6) Experience working with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary teams on large-scale/institutional projects; healthcare, nursing, simulation or competency-centre experience will be an added advantage;

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Strong architectural, interior and integrated space-planning skills with ability to develop functional and implementation-ready designs;

(2) Expertise in multidisciplinary coordination across Architecture, MEP/HVAC, Electrical, ICT/CCTV, Fire & Safety and equipment requirements;

(3) Strong capability in BOQ, cost estimation, technical specifications, tender documentation and value engineering;

(4) Proven project management, stakeholder coordination and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple deliverables and timelines;

(5) Strong QA/QC, technical review, risk assessment and design-compliance capabilities, with high attention to detail;

(6) Proficiency in AutoCAD/BIM and project-management tools, with strong documentation,

presentation and communication skills;
         

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of Four months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
