About Project:
The National Entrepreneurship Network is an independent organization developing AI-based solutions for social good. NEN is supported by reputed global institutions. NEN works closely with central and state governments in India to collaborate on solutions in the domains of healthcare, education, agriculture, etc.
NEN is implementing a project titled “To design an AI-based solution for the public good to automate anthropometric measurements for children”, being strategized and implemented by NEN-AI. As part of this project, NEN-AI is undertaking a field-based Evaluation Study across Cuttack and Khordha districts, Odisha, to validate AI-based anthropometric measurements of children (0 to 6 months) against gold-standard measurements.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Data Collector will be responsible for accurate field-level anthropometric data collection and reporting, working under the guidance of the District Supervisor. Key duties and responsibilities of the Data Collector will include:
(1) Participate in project training and support field operations, serving as the primary point of contact with frontline workers and relevant government stakeholders within the assigned area.
(2) Conduct accurate anthropometric measurements of children using standardized and calibrated equipment in health facilities and community settings, in accordance with project protocols.
(3) Collect field data accurately and submit it in a timely manner, ensuring strict adherence to established study protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards.
(4) Report daily field observations, operational challenges, and deviations to the District Supervisor, and support timely resolution of issues encountered during field implementation.
(5) Interact with study participants (including children and other vulnerable populations), caregivers, healthcare providers, and community stakeholders in a professional, respectful, and culturally appropriate manner.
(6) Prepare and submit periodic reports on field activities, progress, challenges, and recommendations to the reporting manager.
(7) Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all project-related activities, ensuring the integrity, quality, and traceability of collected data throughout the project lifecycle.
(8) Maintain strict confidentiality of participant information, study records, and all project-related data, and comply with applicable ethical and data protection requirements.
(9) Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the District Supervisor or Project Coordinator to support successful implementation of the study.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification and Experience:
(1) 12th Pass + Diploma in Science/Psychology/Public Health/Anthropology/Social Work/Sociology with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.
OR
(2) Three years Graduate degree in Social Science, Life Science. (Specialization required in Psychology/ Public Health/ Anthropology/ Social Work/ Zoology/ Botany/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry + One year experience in the above subjects.)
Experience, Skills and Competencies:
(1) Familiarity with anthropometric measurement techniques and equipment is desirable;
(2) Basic knowledge of computer applications and mobile data collection tools;
(3) Ability to travel extensively within the assigned district/blocks;
(4) Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with caregivers, children, and frontline workers;
(5) Willingness to work in field/community settings, including health facilities and Anganwadi Centres.
5. AGE LIMIT: The upper age limit is 45 years, and the cut-off date for the age limit will be the date of submission of the application form.
6. COMPENSATION OFFERED:
The gross fee budgeted for this position is a consolidated amount of Rs. 30,000 per month, inclusive of all applicable taxes and allowances. The fee will be subject to applicable tax deductions as per prevailing laws.
Note: The above fee is a consolidated monthly amount, inclusive of all allowances, including travel. No separate travel reimbursement shall be payable.
7. NATURE OF ENGAGEMENT:
The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Fixed Term Employee (FTE) on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, offered for a period of two months.
