Joti Foundation (JOTI) is a registered non-governmental organization headquartered in New Chandigarh, Punjab. JOTI’s programmatic work spans areas including Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), anticipatory action and early warning systems, emergency and humanitarian response, climate resilience, community livelihoods, social protection, and rehabilitation of vulnerable populations. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Senior Leadership/ Executive Director, the Communications Manager (CM) will be the primary voice and storyteller for Joti Foundation, responsible for all-around organizational communications, media relations, donor engagement materials, and strategic social media management. The role requires the ability to handle both structured donor communication and creative digital content, with clarity of thought, creative energy, and a strong commitment to social impact communication.
Key Responsibilities:
(A) Organizational Communications:
(1) Develop and implement a comprehensive annual communications strategy in alignment with JOTI's mission, programs, and stakeholder expectations;
(2) Draft, edit, and proofread all organizational content, including donor reports, official letters, newsletters, press releases, concept notes, and internal communications;
(3) Maintain a consistent organizational voice, tone, and brand identity across all written communication materials;
(4) Coordinate with program and field teams to capture and communicate project updates, field insights, and impact data;
(5) Provide communication support to senior leadership, including preparation of talking points, presentations, and correspondence;
(6) Develop and maintain a communication calendar covering key organizational events, campaigns, and reporting milestones.
(B) Social Media Management:
(1) Own and manage all JOTI’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and YouTube end-to-end;
(2) Plan and execute a monthly content calendar with platform-appropriate posts including campaign announcements, field stories, awareness content, organizational updates, and engagement-driven posts;
(3) Grow JOTI's social media following and engagement through strategic content, community interaction, hashtag campaigns, and collaborations;
(4) Monitor platform analytics and generate monthly performance summaries with actionable recommendations to improve reach and engagement;
(5) Respond professionally and promptly to public queries, comments, and messages across all social media channels;
(6) Coordinate and run targeted campaigns around key program milestones, disaster response situations, and national and international awareness days.
(C) Media Relations & Public Outreach:
(1) Build and nurture relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets at the regional and national levels;
(2) Identify and pitch compelling stories about JOTI's field impact to print, digital, and broadcast media;
(3) Develop press releases, media advisories, and interview talking points for organizational leadership;
(4) Monitor media coverage of JOTI and related sectors and maintain a media clipping archive;
(5) Represent JOTI at public forums, events, and stakeholder meetings as and when required.
(D) Content Development & Storytelling:
(1) Write and produce high-quality written content, including field stories, impact narratives, human-interest case studies, blogs, and campaign copy;
(2) Coordinate with field staff to gather beneficiary testimonials, program data, and ground-level insights for content creation;
(3) Develop communication materials for fundraising, donor stewardship, and program visibility;
(4) Oversee design briefings for infographics, posters, banners, and other visual communication assets in coordination with design support;
(5) Manage and regularly update JOTI’s website to ensure content is current, accurate, and reflects organizational priorities;
(6) Plan and execute email newsletter campaigns to engage donors, partners, and community stakeholders.
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualification:
(1) Applicant must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, English Literature, or a related field.
(2) Additional certification in Digital Marketing, Social Media Strategy, or Content Marketing is a plus.
Experience:
(1) Minimum three to four years of demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, or social media marketing, preferably within the NGO, development, or social sector;
(2) Proven experience in managing organizational social media platforms with measurable audience growth and engagement outcomes;
(3) Prior experience in donor communications, grant reporting, or humanitarian sector storytelling will be an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; Working proficiency in Hindi and/or Punjabi is highly desirable;
(2) Strong command of social media platforms and their native analytics tools including Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics, and similar;
(3) Ability to brief and direct design work for visual communication assets including infographics, social posts, and banners, using tools such as Canva;
(4) Skilled at translating complex field realities and program outcomes into clear, audience-appropriate narratives;
(5) Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously;
(6) A collaborative team player able to work effectively with program teams, field staff, leadership, and external partners;
(7) Genuine passion for community development, disaster resilience, and social impact work.
5. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The gross compensation budgeted for the position ranges from Rs. 35,000/- to 40,000/- per month. The offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience and salary history.
