Job Description

1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Afzalpur, Karnataka.

 

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Consultant based at Afzalpur Block, Karnataka for Pre- Conception Care (PCC) interventions. The position will contribute to providing programmatic and administrative support in the implementation of the program activities and will report to the Program Officer concerned. S/he will be responsible for the following work;

 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

 

(1) Provide programmatic and administrative support to ensure timely implementation of all preconception care activities at the block level as per the approved work plan;

(2) Coordinate and organize orientation meetings, trainings and awareness sessions for healthcare providers, frontline workers, and stakeholders on pre-conception care services;

(3) Support program officers in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual activity reports and documentation related to the pre-conception interventions;

(4) Ensure timely availability and distribution of resources, IEC materials, registers, and commodities required for implementation of pre-conception services at health facilities;

(5) Identify operational bottlenecks in service delivery, reporting, and supply systems, and coordinate with relevant teams for timely resolution;

(6) Conduct training and refresher sessions for ANMs, ASHAs, AWWs, and other frontline workers on pre-conception care, counselling, nutrition, risk screening, and referral services;

(7) Follow up during and after trainings to address non-clinical concerns, coordinate with participants, and ensure timely support;

(8) Undertake regular field visits to health facilities and outreach sites to assess preparedness, service delivery quality and resource availability;

(9) Provide onsite supportive supervision visit to frontline workers and facility staff for effective implementation of pre-conception care services;

(10) Develop and implement a tracking plan for supportive supervision visits and follow-up of identified high-risk couples/women requiring pre-conception interventions;

(11) Collect, compile, verify, and submit program data related to beneficiary coverage, counselling sessions, screenings, referrals, and service delivery on a regular basis;

(12) Maintain updated databases of trainings conducted, participants trained, service statistics, and block-level progress indicators;

(13) Work closely with block health officials, HWC/PHC/CHC staff and government counterparts for effective program implementation, monitoring, and reporting;

(14) Facilitate community awareness activities, campaigns, and outreach initiatives to improve uptake of pre-conception care services;

(15) Ensure compliance with program guidelines, reporting formats, and quality standards;

(16) Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or management to achieve project goals effectively;


4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicants must have Bachelor’s in social sciences/ social work/ Diploma in Nursing/ Public Health;
(2) Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in programmatic, administrative and data support function;
(3) Experience in a similar role in public/development sector/ INGOs is highly desirable;

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a multicultural;

(2) Ability to produce documents and coordinate activities independently;

(3) Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines;

(4) Excellent organizational skills required;

(5) Excellent English and Kannada communication skills;

(6) Demonstrated skills on communications and knowledge management;

(7) Proficiency in computer skills, particularly MS Office;

(8) Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks and travel up to 70-80 % of time;

 

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: The consultancy fee INR 45000 per month.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

 

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of two months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
