Consultant - Architectural Engineering for Nursing Modular Lab

1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant - Architectural Engineering for Nursing Modular Lab, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Patna, Bihar.

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Consultant will be responsible for assessing the proposed site, developing functional and clinical space plans, designing a reconfigurable modular station system, preparing architectural and interior layouts, coordinating schematic engineering and technology systems. The Consultant will work closely with the Client team, including the nursing technical expert, and coordinate with relevant institutional, engineering, ICT and other stakeholders through the appropriate Client channel. S/he will be responsible for the following work;

Key Job Responsibilities: 

(1) Clinical & Space Planning;
(a) Develop functional requirements based on nursing competencies;

(b) Assess the proposed site and approximately 1,600 sq. ft. space, including constraints, opportunities and infrastructure requirements;
(c) Plan modular competency stations with adequate learner and instructor circulation;

(2) Modular Station, Architectural & Interior Design;

(a) Develop a standardised, reconfigurable modular station system;

(b) Design interchangeable competency panels/modules for different clinical procedures;

(c) Integrate fixed infrastructure with movable beds, trolleys, mannequins and task trainers;

(d) Prepare architectural layouts, elevations, sections, furniture layouts and material/ finish Specifications;

(e) Ensure the proposed design supports different competencies and simulation scenarios without major modification to physical infrastructure;

(3) Engineering & Technology Design;
(a) Electrical, lighting, UPS and equipment power;

(b) AC, ventilation and environmental control;

(c) Plumbing and clinical utilities;

(d) ICT/networking and structured cabling;

(e) CCTV, audio/video recording and remote proctoring;

(f) AV/display and simulation-control infrastructure;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or related discipline, with relevant professional certifications preferred;
(2) Minimum 10+ years of relevant professional experience in architectural design, project delivery, infrastructure development, interiors/ fit-outs or institutional projects. Prior experience in the planning, design, development, or implementation of Nursing Competency Labs will be an added advantage;
(3) Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary design coordination, including Architecture, Civil, MEP, HVAC, Electrical and allied building systems;

(4) Proven experience in technical drawings, BOQ/cost estimation, specifications, tender documentation, material submittals and procurement coordination;

(5) Strong experience in site assessment, technical reviews, QA/QC, design coordination, risk Management, value engineering and project handover;

(6) Experience working with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary teams on large-scale/institutional projects; healthcare, nursing, simulation or competency-centre experience will be an added advantage;

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Strong architectural, interior and integrated space-planning skills with ability to develop functional and implementation-ready designs;

(2) Expertise in multidisciplinary coordination across Architecture, MEP/HVAC, Electrical, ICT/CCTV, Fire & Safety and equipment requirements;

(3) Strong capability in BOQ, cost estimation, technical specifications, tender documentation and value engineering;
(4) Proven project management, stakeholder coordination and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple deliverables and timelines;

(6) Strong QA/QC, technical review, risk assessment and design-compliance capabilities, with high attention to detail;

(7) Proficiency in AutoCAD/BIM and project-management tools, with strong documentation, presentation and communication skills;

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of One month. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
