Consultant - Field Coordinator

1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant - Field Coordinator, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Saraiya Block, Muzaffarpur.

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Consultant will support the demonstration of an AAM-based Elderly & Palliative Care model in selected AAMs under Saraiya Block of Muzaffarpur. The focus will be on capacity building, infrastructure readiness, patient identification, home-based care, family support, referral, and community engagement under CPHC. S/he will be responsible for the following work;

Key Job Responsibilities: 

(1) Conduct AAM readiness and infrastructure assessment and support improvements such as ramps, handrails, wheelchair, stretcher, accessible toilets, priority seating and signage;
(2) Support implementation of Priority OPD/Queue System for elderly, frail, disabled and palliative care patients;

(3) Train and mentor CHO, ANM, ASHA and CPHC teams on identification, assessment, comfort care, counselling, referral and follow-up;
(4) Establish elderly & palliative-care line listing, assessment and individual care plans;

(5) Demonstrate home-based care and follow-up through ASHA/ANM/CHO;

(6) Strengthen family/caregiver counselling, end-of-life preparedness and bereavement support;
(7) Strengthen referral and counter-referral between AAM, PHC/CHC and higher facilities;

(8) Facilitate JAS/VHSNC/PRI and community engagement for identification and support of vulnerable elderly/palliative patients;
(9) Support development and field testing of SOPs, job aids, checklists and IEC materials;

(10) Conduct regular field visits, supportive supervision, case reviews and OJT;

(11) Track key indicators, document case stories/best practices, and generate learning for scale up;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree in public health/Hospital & Healthcare Mgmt, Nursing, Social Work, Life Sciences or a related field;
(2) Minimum 2–4 years' experience in public health/community health/elderly/palliative care;
(3) Experience working with government health systems and frontline workers;

(4) Strong Hindi and English communication skills;

(5) Experience in training, field coordination, and documentation;

(6) Knowledge of AAM/CPHC/NHM is desirable;

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of Three months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
