1. POSITIONS VACANT: Consultant, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Consultant will provide technical guidance and handholding support throughout the accreditation journey, including documentation development, quality system implementation, staff capacity building, internal audits, and support during NABL assessments. The consultant will work closely with laboratory management and technical staff to facilitate successful accreditation and sustainable quality improvement S/he will be responsible for the following work;

Key Job Responsibilities: 

(1) Quality Management System Development and Implementation;

(a) Conduct a comprehensive gap assessment against NABL ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements;
(b) Develop an accreditation implementation roadmap with timelines and priorities;

(c) Support establishment and implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with NABL requirements;
(d) Assist in developing quality objectives, quality policies, and laboratory quality indicators;

(e) Support implementation of document control and record management systems;

(f) Establish systems for management review and continual quality improvement;

(2) Documentation Development;

(a) Develop and/or review Quality Manual in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements;

(b) Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory processes;

(c) Develop formats, registers, checklists, and quality records required for compliance;

(d) Develop procedures related to CAPA, internal audits, risk management, document control, and record retention;

(e) Support development of sample collection, transportation, handling, storage, and disposal procedures;

(f) Support development of biosafety and biomedical waste management documentation;

(3) Quality Assurance and Technical Support;

(a) Support implementation of Internal Quality Control (IQC) systems;

(b) Guide participation in External Quality Assurance Schemes (EQAS) and proficiency testing programs;

(c) Provide technical support for method validation and method verification activities;

(d) Assist with measurement uncertainty estimation where applicable;
(e) Support equipment calibration, maintenance planning, and traceability requirements;

(f) Facilitate risk assessments and quality improvement initiatives;

(4) Capacity Building and Training;
(a) Conduct orientation and training sessions on NABL accreditation requirements;

(b) Train laboratory personnel on ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements;

(c) Provide training on Quality Management Systems, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and documentation practices;

(d) Train designated staff on internal audits and non-conformity management;

(e) Develop training materials, presentations, and reference documents for laboratory personnel;

(5) Assessment and Accreditation Support;

(a) Support preparation and submission of NABL application documents;

(b) Conduct internal audits and facilitate corrective actions;

(c) Support laboratory management in conducting management review meetings;

(d) Assist in preparing for NABL pre-assessment and final assessment visits;

(e) Support closure of non-conformities raised by NABL assessors;

(f) Provide recommendations for continual improvement and maintenance of accreditation status;

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicants must have Postgraduate degree in Veterinary Sciences, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Public Health, or related discipline;
(2) Minimum 3-5 years of experience in laboratory quality management systems and accreditation support;
(3) Demonstrated experience in implementation of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements;

(4) Experience supporting successful NABL accreditation of testing laboratories;

(5) Experience in conducting laboratory gap assessments, internal audits, and quality system implementation;

(6) Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, method validation, proficiency testing, and calibration requirements;

(7) Strong technical writing and documentation skills;

(8) Willingness to travel as required;

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, method validation, proficiency testing, and calibration requirements;

(2) Strong technical writing and documentation skills;

(3) Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple stakeholders;

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of Four months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
