Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.
3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant Senior Strategic Advisor will serve as a trusted advisor to the Country Director and the HBI leadership team. The role will provide independent strategic counsel to ensure effective utilization of existing investments, support the mobilization of additional resources, and strengthen leadership capacity within the initiative. The role is advisory in nature and carries no direct management or budgetary authority. Engagement is oriented toward internal strategic guidance, review, and preparation of Client leadership and teams, rather than direct representation in external forums. S/he will be responsible for the following work;
Key Job Responsibilities:
(1) Strategic Stewardship of the Existing Portfolio;
(a) Advise Client leadership on maximizing the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of the current USD 30 million HBI investment portfolio;
(b) Review implementation progress and provide strategic recommendations to strengthen program performance and outcomes;
(c) Support identification of emerging opportunities, risks, and strategic pivots required to achieve HBI objectives;
(d) Promote a culture of accountability, results measurement, innovation, and continuous improvement;
(2) Resource Mobilization and Growth;
(a) Provide strategic guidance on achieving HBI's USD 100 million resource mobilization ambition over the next three years;
(b) Identify high-potential funding opportunities across philanthropy, development finance, government, corporate, and market-based channels;
(c) Advise on positioning, investment cases, partnership strategies, and growth opportunities;
(d) Support Client teams in strengthening the initiative's value proposition for existing and prospective funders;
(3) Leadership Development and Mentorship;
(a) Mentor at least five senior leaders and managers responsible for HBI implementation and growth;
(b) Strengthen leadership capabilities in strategic thinking, execution excellence, stakeholder engagement, and partnership development;
(c) Coach leaders on navigating complexity, influencing stakeholders, and scaling innovation;
(4) Strategic Support to Client's Family Health Portfolio;
(a) Provide strategic advice and mentorship to other family health initiatives when requested by the Country Director;
(b) Conduct a thorough review of existing Family Health investments to identify opportunities for introduction of high-impact products and diagnostics;
(c) Contribute insights on maternal, newborn, child health, nutrition, and health systems strengthening opportunities;
(d) Support organizational learning and cross-program collaboration;
(5) Advisory Input on Strategic Positioning and Partnerships;
(a) Advise Client leadership on stakeholder mapping, partnership prioritization, and engagement strategy, drawing on prior sector network and experience, for execution by Client teams.;
(b) Provide strategic input on coalition building approaches and priority ecosystem relationships to accelerate progress on birth outcomes.;
(c) Advise on strategic communications positioning, and review and refine narratives and investment cases that demonstrate impact and attract investment;
(d) Brief and prepare Client leadership ahead of external engagements with funders, government, and ecosystem partners, without personally representing HBI in external forums
4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications and Experience:
(1) Applicants must have Master of Public Health ,MD (Community Medicine) MBBS;
(2) Minimum 10-15 years of experience in relevant field;
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Strategic leadership and portfolio management;
(2) Strong understanding of philanthropy, development finance, government, corporate, and market-based funding channels;
(3) Risk identification, opportunity assessment, and strategic decision-making;
(4) Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-management skills;
(5) Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and provide high-level strategic advisory support;
5. CONSULTANCY FEE: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:
The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of six months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
