Job Description

1. POSITIONS VACANT:  Senior Technical Consultant, International Not-for-Profit Organization, Bangalore, Karnataka.

 

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND:

 

Our client is a respected international not-for-profit, that works in public health, to improve the health of disadvantaged communities, across the globe.

3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Senior Technical Consultant will provide strategic and technical support to strengthen the Manyata programme and guide the integration of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) screening and management services across 25 private health facilities. S/he will be responsible for the following work;

 

Key Job Responsibilities: 

 

(1) Strategic and technical guidance;

(a) Provide strategic and technical guidance for the implementation, sustainability and scale-up of Manyata and GDM initiatives;

(b) Review priority technical materials, clinical pathways, training content and implementation Approaches;

(c) Ensure alignment with national maternal-health priorities and relevant clinical guidelines;

(d) Recommend actions to address programme and facility-level implementation challenges;


(2) Stakeholder and facility engagement;

(a) Support engagement with FOGSI, CSEs, NABH, private health facilities and other relevant stakeholders;

(b) Facilitate participation of FOGSI leaders, clinical champions and professional networks in programme activities;

(c) Support the identification, engagement and onboarding of 25 private health facilities for GDM service integration;

(d) Participate in selected strategic consultations and facility orientations;

 

(3) Capacity building and clinical mentoring;

(a) Guide the adaptation and delivery of the GDM capacity-building package;

(b) Support the training and mentoring of 100 nurses from participating facilities;

(c) Orient relevant obstetricians and clinical leads on GDM screening, diagnosis, management and referral pathways;

(d) Provide technical mentoring to strengthen screening, counselling, documentation and clinical management practices;

 

(4) Programme sustainability and partnerships;

(a) Provide recommendations for strengthening the sustainability of Manyata and CSEs;

(b) Advise on service packages, partnership opportunities and potential financing approaches;

(c) Support engagement with professional bodies, quality-assurance institutions and other strategic partners;

(d) Recommend opportunities for integrating and scaling GDM services through existing Manyata and FOGSI platforms;

 

(5) Programme review and learning;

(a) Review progress under the Manyata and GDM workstreams;

(b) Provide recommendations to address identified gaps and implementation bottlenecks;

(c) Review consolidated facility and programme information prepared by the project team;

(d) Validate key technical lessons and recommendations for sustainability and scale-up;

 

(6) Programme Recording and Reporting;

(a) Initiate recording and reporting of GDM services from the onboarded 25 health facilities;

(b) Facilitate the sustainability of GDM services reporting;


4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

(1) Applicants must have MBBS with MD/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with extensive experience in maternal and newborn health, quality improvement, clinical governance, and healthcare quality standards;

 

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Demonstrated expertise in maternal and newborn health, quality improvement, clinical governance, healthcare quality standards, stakeholder engagement and working with professional bodies especially with FOGSI, technical advisory support, capacity building, and strategic program leadership, with strong communication and facilitation skills;

 

5. CONSULTANCY FEE: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is attractive. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.

8. NATURE OF CONTRACT:

 

The selected candidate shall be engaged as a Consultant on the rolls of SAMS, a third-party payrolling agency, for a full-time consultancy engagement initially offered for a period of Six months. The contract is extendable based on performance and project requirements. It is explicitly clarified that this consultancy engagement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of future employment, with SAMS, or our client, or any other organization associated with the project.
